The dental hygienist is responsible for performing licensed hygiene procedures, educating patients, and managing the nonsurgical periodontal program as directed by the dentist.

1. Establish and maintain ongoing patient care relationships.
2. Verify and document patient health history; educate patients about oral hygiene, health, disease, and available procedures and services.
3. Perform clinical hygiene functions such as exposing/evaluating diagnostic x-rays, taking and recording blood pressure, adult/child prophylaxis, non-surgical periodontal therapy, and assisting with restorative treatments.
4. Determine needs and perform sealant placement, Arestin, and fluoride treatments as needed.
5. Hold a dental hygiene certification from an accredited school.
6. Maintain current hygiene license and complete annual OSHA, HIPAA, BLS, and infection control training.
7. Experience with dental software is preferred.
