Job summary

Dental Depot DFW is seeking a Dental Assistant to support the Hygienist, prepare patients for procedures, and keep accurate records. You will expose dental X-rays, sterilize instruments, polish teeth, take histories, and assist in emergencies while maintaining a well-run hygiene schedule.

The role requires completing a Dental Assisting program or at least three months in a dental office, plus an active Dental Assistant permit within 30 days and radiology within six months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of Dental Assisting school or minimum three months experience in a dental office.
• Dental Assistant permit within 30 days of employment required. Coronal Polish Certificate and Radiation Certificate within six months of employment required.
• Knowledge of dental software (Eaglesoft preferred) and Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Assist Hygienist, set up equipment, prepare patient for hygiene treatment and keep records.
• Record treatment information in patient records.
• Expose dental diagnostic x-rays and care for x-ray sensors.
• Coronal polish all surfaces of the teeth to assist the Hygienist during preventive or periodontal visits.
• Take and record medical and dental histories and vital signs.
• Assist Hygienist in medical or dental emergencies.
• Provide postoperative instructions and make post-operative calls to patients.
• Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.
• Order and monitor dental supplies and equipment for Hygiene department.
• Schedule appointments and maintain a full hygiene schedule.
