Job summary

Codman Square Health Center, Inc. is seeking a Dental Benefit Coordinator to improve patient experience and support the dental department’s financial health in Boston, MA.

You will process pre-estimates, prior authorizations, Health Safety Net verification, and sliding fee determinations, while liaising with patients, providers, insurers, and internal teams to ensure clarity and compliant scheduling. The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and knowledge of dental insurance

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–10 years of experience as licensed dental assistant.
• Knowledge of dental insurance benefits, billing workflows and patient financial agreements.
• Experience managing projects or staff preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify dental insurance eligibility, benefits, deductibles, and coverage status.
• Process pre-estimates for commercial insurance and prior authorizations for MassHealth.
• Verify Health Safety Net eligibility and determine applicable deductibles.
• Qualify uninsured patients for the Sliding Fee Program.
• Submit documentation to insurance carriers and track submissions.
• Provide patient financial counseling including benefits and costs.
• Schedule procedures and scrub schedules for approvals and payments.
• Ensure consent forms, contracts, and waivers are scanned into EPIC and Dentrix.
• Produce reports on submissions, approvals, denials, and collections.
• Maintain logs of pre-estimates, authorizations, HSN cases, and sliding fee patients.
