Job summary

Primary-Health-Care,-Inc. is seeking a Dental Assistant to support dentists and staff in a busy Ames clinic. You will prepare operatory setups, greet patients, document health histories, and assist throughout procedures to ensure efficient patient flow.

The position requires Iowa-registered dental assisting credentials, BLS and strong customer service, with opportunity for Expanded Functions pay based on training and performance. Comprehensive benefits accompany the role.

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited dental assisting program or equivalent training meeting Iowa Dental Board requirements.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn different software and database systems.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail oriented with high degree of accuracy.
• Demonstrates professionalism with ability to remain calm in all situations and show empathy.
• Current QDA Registration through the Iowa Dental Board
• Mandatory Reporter Training: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse recognized by the Iowa
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers Certification

Responsibilities

• Prepare operatory setup and materials for patient visit.
• Greet and establish rapport with patient with care and compassion.
• Collect and record blood pressure, pulse, and health history.
• Collect and submit patient services and billing information.
• Assist care provider and support patients before, during and after procedures.
• Perform dental x-rays in accordance with regulatory codes.
• Minimize radiation exposure by proper procedures.
• Support laboratory by preparing study models.
• Perform direct patient care as delegated by dentist.
• Instruct patients on oral health care and post-treatment care.
• Ensure services and education match patient needs.
• Prepare and maintain dental instruments, materials, equipment; document maintenance.
