Vitanapdp, a growing dental office in New Jersey, is seeking an Orthodontic Dental Assistant to support the orthodontist and clinical team in delivering high-quality patient care.

You will prepare and sterilize instruments, take impressions and scans, assist with appliances, and help educate patients on oral hygiene. The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and a team-oriented attitude.

Qualifications

• Prior dental assisting experience required (orthodontic experience preferred).
• Dental Assistant certification as required by state.
• Orthodontic assisting experience or certification (if applicable).
• X-ray certification (as required by state).
• CPR/BLS certification preferred.
• Experience with dental software (Dentrix, Ortho2, Open Dental, etc.) preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during clinical procedures.
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms.
• Take dental impressions, digital scans, and photographs.
• Place and remove orthodontic appliances under doctor supervision (brackets, wires, bands, etc., per state regulations).
• Adjust archwires and change elastics as directed.
• Take orthodontic X-rays in compliance with state guidelines.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, appliance care, and treatment expectations.
• Maintain accurate patient records and clinical notes.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols.
• Support efficient patient flow and operatory turnover.
• Assist with inventory management and stocking supplies.
