Dental Assistant - Mercy Health Physicians - Dental Clinic

$2,000 sign-on bonus for eligible new hires!

The Dental Assistant assists the Dentist with various procedures performed at chairside in the Dental Clinic. They are responsible for coordinating patient care, taking and developing oral x-rays, maintaining dental supplies and equipment, instructing patients on oral health and preventive measures, and performing clerical duties such as reception and billing. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

1. Prepares for procedures/exams: greets and escorts patient, prepares patient, equipment, and supplies, and obtains chart.
2. Uses suction devices, water spray, cotton rolls, holders, cheek/tongue retractors to keep the oral area clean; prepares restorative materials; takes and develops intra-oral radiographs; assists with exams, cleanings, extractions, root canals, and fillings.
3. Provides patient education and post-procedure instructions; educates on oral hygiene and preventive care; maintains and sterilizes dental instruments following protocol.
4. Assists with billing, performs clerical duties, files records, and maintains charts and instruments.

Qualifications:

• Vocational/technical degree, completion of dental assistant program
• OH Radiology License
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification from the American Heart Association
