Dental Assistant - Mercy Health Physicians - Dental Clinic

$2,000 sign-on bonus for eligible new hires!

The Dental Assistant assists the Dentist with various procedures performed at chairside in the Dental Clinic. He/she is responsible for coordinating various tasks, including taking and developing oral x-rays, maintaining dental and patient care supplies and equipment, instructing patients on oral health and preventive measures, and performing general receptionist/clerical/registration/billing duties. Performs other duties and assignments as requested.

Essential Functions:

1. Prepares for procedures/exams: Greets and escorts patient to operatory area; prepares patient, equipment, and supplies; obtains chart.
2. Assists during procedures: Uses suction devices, water spray, cotton rolls, holders, cheek/tongue retractors; prepares restorative materials and dental cements; takes and develops intra-oral radiographs; assists with oral exams, cleanings, extractions, root canal therapy, and fillings.
3. Patient education and instrument maintenance: Provides post-procedure instructions; educates on oral hygiene and preventive care; maintains and sterilizes dental instruments following protocol.
4. Administrative duties: Directs patients to financial counseling; assists with billing; performs clerical duties; files records; maintains charts.

Qualifications:

• Education: Vocational/technical degree; completion of dental assistant program.
• Certifications/Licensing: OH Radiology License; Basic Life Support (CPR) from the American Heart Association.
