Dental Assistant - Mercy Health Physicians - Dental Clinic

$2,000 sign-on bonus for eligible new hires!

The Dental Assistant assists the Dentist with various procedures performed at chairside in the Dental Clinic. They are responsible for coordinating patient care, taking and developing oral x-rays, maintaining dental supplies and equipment, instructing patients on oral health and preventive measures, and performing receptionist/clerical/registration/billing duties. Performs other duties and assignments as requested.

Essential Functions:

1. Prepares for procedures/exams: greets and escorts patient, prepares patient, equipment, and supplies, obtains chart.
2. Uses suction devices, water spray, cotton rolls, holders, cheek/tongue retractors to keep the oral area clean; prepares restorative materials and dental cements; takes and develops intra-oral radiographs; assists with various dental procedures.
3. Provides education and post-procedure instructions; educates patients on oral hygiene and dental care; maintains and sterilizes dental instruments; processes instruments and maintains disinfecting solutions.
4. Assists with billing and clerical duties, maintains records, and manages charts.

Qualifications:

Education: Vocational/technical degree (Required), completion of dental assistant program.

Certifications/Licensing: OH Radiology License, Basic Life Support (CPR) from the American Heart Association.
