Job summary

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking an On-call Dental Assistant for its Tacoma-Cedar Dental Clinic. In this role, you'll assist the dental provider in performing a variety of dental procedures as permitted by Washington State laws and maintain accurate records for safety and supply management. The ideal candidate should possess a valid WA State license, BLS certification, and exceptional customer service skills.

Previous orthodontic experience and bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish are preferred. Candidates must have completed an accredited Dental Assistant program and have relevant work experience.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid WA State license and BLS certification.
  • Must have at least 6 months of relevant experience as a Dental Assistant.
  • For Dental Assistant III: 2 years of experience or 3 years without formal training.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

On-call Dental Assistant position available for our Tacoma - Cedar Dental Clinic. Candidate will assist the dental provider in the delivery of dental procedures allowed by the WA State Dental Practice Act, including Restorative, Prosthodontics, Endodontics, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery and any other procedures allowed by the WA Dental Practice Act. Responsibilities include maintaining proper records for material safety data sheets (MSDS), spore test, inventory of dental supplies, training new Dental Assistants, and organizing schedules to generate check lists for maintenance of dental procedures.

Qualifications
  • Applicant must have a valid WA State license, basic life support (BLS) certification, organizational skills, dental record experience and familiarity with the utilization of computers.
  • Excellent customer service skills required; must be able to communicate, read and write in English and interpret common written material about dentistry.
  • Preferred bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Preferred previous orthodontic experience.

As a Dental Assistant II, applicant must have completed a formal Dental Assistant program at a college, technical institute or equivalent. A minimum of 6 months of work experience is required. Employee with no formal training must have a minimum of 18 months of work experience in a Dental Assistant position.

As a Dental Assistant III, applicant must be knowledgeable of the proper sterilization methods and OSHA regulations including QI; able to duplicate and mount radiographs, place temporary restorations, take impressions, pour and trim models, place retraction cord, place matrix bands, perform coronal polish and give fluoride treatments. Applicant must have 2 years working experience. Employees with no formal training must have a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a Dental Assistant position.
