Job summary

Sea Mar Community Health Centers in Burien, WA, is seeking a Dental Assistant III to support dentists in restorative, endodontic, orthodontic and other procedures, and to handle radiographs, sterilization, and patient records.

The candidate must hold WA Dental Assistant Registration, obtain BLS CPR within 90 days, have at least two years of expanded duties experience, and demonstrate excellent customer service in a bilingual English/Spanish environment when possible.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Washington State Dental Assistant Registration.
• Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification within 90 days of hiring.
• Must have 2 years working experience in Expanded duties Dental Assisting.
• Dental record experience and familiarity with the utilization of computers and organizational skills.
• Excellent customer service skills required for this position.
• Must be able to communicate, read and write in English; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide chair side assistance using four‑handed dentistry techniques across Diagnostic, Preventative, Restorative, Endodontics, Periodontics, Oral Surgery, Prosthodontics, Orthodontics and other WA Dental Practice Act services.
• Identify and categorize patient age-specific needs (infants, adolescents, geriatrics).
• Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, review provider schedules, and register patients in the practice management system.
• Oversee sterilization methods and OSHA compliance in all clinic areas, including treatment rooms and sterilization areas.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Full‑time Dental Assistant III position available for our Burien Dental Clinic. The candidate will assist the dental provider in the delivery of dental procedures allowed by the Washington State Dental Practice Act. Assistant responsibilities include Restorative, Prosthodontics, Endodontics, Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, and any other procedures allowed by the WA Dental Practice Act. Must be knowledgeable of proper sterilization methods, OSHA regulations, quality improvement, and must duplicate and mount radiographs, place temporary restorations, take impressions, pour and trim models, place retraction cord, place matrix bands, perform coronal polish, give fluoride treatments, maintain records for material safety data sheets (MSDS), handle spore tests, inventory of supplies, assist in training new Dental Assistants, and organize schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Anticipate and provide to Dental Providers all necessary chair side assistance using four‑handed dentistry technique with procedures in categories as required: Diagnostic, Preventative, Restorative, Endodontics, Periodontics, Oral Surgery, Prosthodontic, Orthodontics, and other services allowed by the Washington Dental Practice Act.
• Identify and categorize each patient’s age‑specific grouping of needs, such as those for infants, adolescents, and geriatric patients.
• Participate in scheduling appointments, arriving and departing patients, reviewing provider schedules in Dentrix, and registering patients in Allscripts PM.
• Oversee and maintain proper sterilization methods and OSHA regulations in all clinic areas, including treatment rooms and sterilization areas.

Other duties assigned as needed.

• Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification within 90 days of hiring and maintain throughout employment.
• Must have 2 years working experience.
• Minimum of 2 years Expanded duties Dental Assisting experience required.
• Dental record experience and familiarity with the utilization of computers and organizational skills.
• Excellent customer service skills required for this position.
• Must be able to communicate, read and write in English and have the ability to interpret common written material about dentistry.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred, but not required.
