Job summary

The University of Louisville School of Dentistry is hiring a Dental Assistant I for our Paducah practice located at 5200 Alben Barkley Dr, Paducah, KY 42001. This is a full-time, regular position requiring a high school diploma or GED and dental assisting experience, plus CPR certification.

Responsibilities include chairside support, patient chart review, operatory prep, and assisting with various procedures.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
6 months of dental assisting experience or equivalent.
Completion of formal dental assisting training program and externship is acceptable.
CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

Assist providers at chairside; review and maintain patient charts; prepare operatories, instruments, supplies and paperwork prior to patient arrival.
Maintain clinic; assist with screening; perform functions related to the specialty area; instruct patients in oral hygiene.
Supervise patients; mix materials; take vital signs; dispense pre-medication; instruct patients in post-treatment; handle emergencies.
Cross-train with other employees; perform duties as assigned.
Forward supply requests; maintain inventory control and stock cubicles.
Perform laboratory duties as assigned; order outside supplies; create an ongoing catalog for supplies.
Distribute sterilized trays and instruments; receive and prepare contaminated instruments; set up/tear down operatories per infection control guidelines.
