Job summary

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with at least 6 months of dental assisting experience or an equivalent education/training background, plus CPR certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, plus 6 months of dental assisting experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.
• Completion of a formal dental assisting training program and externship acceptable.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers at chairside; review and maintain patient charts; prepare operatories, instruments, supplies and paperwork prior to patient arrival.
• Maintain clinic; assist with screening; perform tasks in specialty area; instruct patients in oral hygiene.
• Supervise patients, mix materials, take vital signs, dispense pre-medication, and provide post-treatment instructions.
• Cross-train with others; forward supply requests; maintain inventory; stock cubicles.
• Perform laboratory duties as assigned; order outside supplies with vendors and manage supply catalog.
• Distribute sterilized trays and instruments; handle sterilization workflow; ensure infection control guidelines are followed.
