Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida Inc. is seeking a dependable Dental Assistant to support dentists with clinical and clerical tasks in a busy practice.

You'll perform chairside assistance, take patient histories and vital signs, handle front desk duties, and ensure OSHA infection control standards under supervision. Training includes potential progression to Dental Assistant II through formal education; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; dental assisting program graduate.
• 1 year of 4-handed chairside dental assisting skills preferred.
• Willingness to progress to Dental Assistant II through formal education.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; CPR certification preferred.
• Knowledge of dental terminology preferred; good customer relations and professional appearance.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist dentists with clinical and clerical procedures.
• Assist with front desk duties.
• Chair side assistance for dentists.
• Take and record patient vital signs, case history and oral temperature.
• Understand OSHA infection control requirements.
• Answer calls and schedule appointments; study for radiology certification.
• Prepare patients for dental exams and chart histories.
• Take, develop, and file dental radiographs under supervision.
• Prepare instrument trays and operatories; retrieve records as needed.
• Monitor autoclave systems and maintain MSDS logs.
• Complete Dental Assistant skills checklist annually.
• Enter and retrieve patient information in the electronic oral health record system.
