Job summary

Summa Health System seeks a full-time Dental Assistant for the Center for Dental Health in Akron, OH. The role supports the dental clinic with chairside procedures, sterilization, and administrative tasks to ensure smooth operatory operations.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in a dental assisting program or have completed one, with radiology certification in Ohio and CDA preferred. A comprehensive benefits package accompanies the position.

Summary

Performs general office, sterilization and chairside duties in support of dental clinic and operatory functions.

Minimum Education

• Currently enrolled in dental assisting program or has successfully completed a dental assisting program
• CDA certification preferred
• Current radiology certificate with Ohio Dental Board

Minimum Work Experience

• Chairside experience
• Experience scheduling appointments and collecting patient data
• Experience with equipment maintenance and inventory and ordering of supplies
• Experience developing digital x-rays and inputting them into computer
• Experience with dental software, Dentrix preferred.

Required Skills And Knowledge

• Excellent oral communication skills with ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients and co-workers.
• Knowledge of dental terminology and office practice and procedures.
• Basic computer skills
• Experience entering patient data, appointments and treatment plans in computer
• Population Specific Competency: ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
