Job summary

Dental Assistant position at NARA Northwest in Portland, OR is an in-person role, Tuesday through Friday, 7:15 AM – 6:00 PM, with a wage range of $26.25–$32.55 hourly. You will support dentists at chair side, handle radiographs, and help keep the clinic running smoothly.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited trade or job skills training in a certified Dental Assistant program required.
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • EFDA and Radiologic Proficiency certification for the State of Oregon required.
  • CPR/BLS certificate required.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a Dental or Medical office required.
  • Competency in infection control and assisting in dental procedures.
  • Dentrix scheduling experience strongly preferred.
  • Sealant certification preferred.
  • Must pass pre-employment or for cause drug tests.
  • Must pass criminal background and DMV checks.
  • Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Dentist at chair side, utilizing basic and expanded function dental assistant techniques.
  • Operate dental x-ray equipment, taking intraoral and digital radiographs, developing and mounting film, or storing them in appropriate electronic file.
  • Maintain aseptic condition during surgical procedure, stabilizing tissue, cutting sutures and checking for signs of patient distress such as fainting or shock.
  • Complete required sterilization procedures.
  • Maintain dental equipment, operatories, and lab sterilization area.
  • Accurately maintain electronic patient charts and records.
  • Provide instructions on basic dental care or post-operative care as instructed by Dentist.

Position Overview:

The Dental Assistant assists the dental professionals with the daily operation of the dental clinic in accordance with NARA’s health and wellness objectives for patients and families and helps to ensure that the provision of dental health services takes place in a professional, non-bias environment and is accomplished efficiently.
