State of Colorado is hiring a Dental Assistant for a Denver prison clinic. You will assist the dentist with routine and emergency care, manage scheduling, sterilization, and infection control while ensuring safety and compliance in a correctional setting.

Your role supports daily clinic operations, inventory, and patient education, with collaboration across the dental team to deliver high-quality care to inmates.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time chair-side dental assisting experience with adults.
• Accredited dental assisting program may substitute for one year of experience.
• Preference for experience in a correctional environment and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Obtain digital x-rays and set up restorative procedures.
• Educate inmates on preventive dental health care.
• Sterilize instruments and equipment; manage waste and infection control.
• Follow radiation safety, infection control guidelines, and OSHA rules.
• Maintain inventory and stock levels for supplies and chemicals.
• Schedule and perform preventive maintenance on dental equipment.
• Assist dentist to plan workload and inmate appointment flow.
• Triages urgent requests and coordinates with dentist for scheduling.
• Log co-pay charges and submit for approval; maintain filing systems.
• Ensure a safe, clean, compliant clinical environment for inmates.
• Operate autoclave spore tests and document results.
