Job summary

Family Health Services is seeking a Dental Assistant to provide chairside support during a full range of dental procedures and to help manage day-to-day patient administration. The role includes preparing equipment, maintaining supplies, and supporting radiography with strict adherence to safety protocols.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED plus an accredited Dental Assistant program. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred to assist our diverse patient base.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides chair side assistance to dentists and/or dental hygienists for operative, preventive, periodontal, endodontic, prosthetic, and/or oral surgical procedures.
• Prepares, sterilizes, organizes, and sets up dental equipment; ensures instruments are cleaned, dated, and processed per guidelines.
• Monitors and maintains dental equipment (compressors, evacuator systems, radiographic developing equipment, sterilizers, light curing units).
• Develops and processes dental radiographs; enforces radiation safety procedures and protocols.
• Follows all regulations and guidelines for dental clinical services; assists with inventory and ordering of supplies.
• Interacts with patients; schedules appointments, performs telephone triage, conducts patient interviews, and obtains prior approvals from third party payors.
• Maintains dental records and laboratory slips per protocol; performs other duties as assigned.
