Job summary

U.M. FDSP Associates is an affiliate of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, providing patient-care staffing for clinic operations. Under general supervision by a licensed dentist, perform general chairside and clinical functions related to patient dental care, aspermitted by Maryland COMAR regulation.

Responsibilities include intraoral procedures, radiography, impressions, anesthesia support, and floating between clinics to meet staffing needs while ensuring high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of experience in a dental or oral surgery setting (new grads welcome)
• Current X-ray certification (required)
• CPR certification (required)
• DAANCE certification is a plus
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and provide compassionate care
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficiency with dental software is a plus

Responsibilities

• Perform intraoral rinsing and aspiration procedures
• Retractor oral tissues, including lips, cheeks, tongue, and flaps
• Place and remove materials used for isolation of the dentition
• Check for loose orthodontic bands
• Provide oral hygiene instructions to patients
• Perform intraoral photography
• Expose and process dental radiographs
• Take impressions for mouth guards or diagnostic casts
• Apply topical anesthesia
• Cure dental materials using a halogen light
• Assist with oral surgery procedures
• Assist with Endodontic procedures
• Assist with dental anesthesia procedures, as permitted, with exceptional proficiency
• Order, receive, and maintain inventory of clinical supplies and equipment
• Clean and maintain clinical equipment and properly dispose of materials after procedures
• Perform infection control procedures, including setting up disposable barriers and proper sharps handling
• Enter data and schedule follow-up appointments as needed
• Float between clinics based on operational needs
• Collaborate with the business manager and scheduling team to support clinic operations
• Additional Duties: float between departments to support staffing shortages
