Job summary

Garden State Dental in Newark, New Jersey, seeks a Dental Assistant to join our clinical team. You will support the office and assist dentists during procedures in a team-based setting, with emphasis on patient care and satisfaction.

Candidates should have prior dental assisting experience and a one-year certified program; X-ray certification is required and Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended. This is a part-time opportunity with competitive hourly pay and education support.

Qualifications

• Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program is required.
• X-Ray certification is required and Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended.
• High school diploma or equivalent is acceptable if accompanied by relevant training.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Support: Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
• Patient Care: Welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Radiography & Diagnostics: Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake (if needed)
• Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.

Dental Assistant are also expected to maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.
