Atlantic Health System in Summit, NJ is hiring a Dental Assistant to prepare patients and assist in dental procedures. Candidates must have a High School Diploma, CDA experience, and valid NJ Dental X-ray license. This position offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and tuition assistance.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient, sterilizes and disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays, and prepares materials.
• Takes and records medical and dental histories and vital signs of patient.
• Exposes dental diagnostic x-rays. Makes preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts.
• Pours, trims, and polishes study casts, fabricates custom impression trays from preliminary impressions, cleans and polishes removable appliances, and fabricates temporary restorations.
• Assists dentists in management of medical and dental emergencies.
• Instructs patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs. Provides postoperative instructions prescribed by dentist.
• Records treatment information in patient records.
• Applies protective coating of fluoride to teeth.
• May schedule appointments, prepare bills and receive payment for dental services, complete insurance forms, and maintain clerical records.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required

Experience, Licenses, and Certifications:

• CDA Experience Required.
• 2 years experience as a dental assistant highly preferred
• Dental Radiography Certificate required.
• Valid NJ Dental X-ray license
• Certification by the Dental Assisting National Board required.
• Must be registered as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) by State of New Jersey
