Job summary

Garden State Dental in Toms River, New Jersey, is seeking a Dental Assistant to support our clinical team and deliver high-quality patient care in a team-based environment.

Responsibilities include room prep, sterilization, radiography, patient education, and maintaining records. Must have 1 year of experience; X-ray certification is required; nitrous oxide certification is recommended. Full-time hours with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One-year certified dental assistant program preferred/required.
• X-Ray certification required.
• Nitrous oxide certification highly recommended.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Support: Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
• Patient Care: Welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Radiography & Diagnostics: Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake as needed.
• Assist dentist in managing dental and medical emergencies with CPR certification and emergency supplies.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program

X-Ray certification

Nitrous Oxide certification

• X-Ray certification - Required
• Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended
• High school diploma or equivalent

Dental Assistant are also expected to maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.
