Position Purpose:

The Dental Assistant is responsible for facilitating all activities that involve patient care in the dental operatory as well as clerical duties, maintenance of dental equipment and supply inventory. Patient services include coordination of care and may include duties related to scheduling and care plan communication.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare operatory, sterilize instruments, and disinfect area at completion of procedure.
  • Complete lab tasks, under the direction of a dentist, and send cases out to labs.
  • Operate dental x-ray equipment and perform dental radiographic procedures.
  • Greet, room patients, and provide excellent patient experience.
  • Support patients, dentists and hygienists as requested.
  • Assure accurate and efficient scheduling, and billing of patients through partnership with the HSA and PSRs and/or direct accountability for associated tasks.
  • Inventory control, supply ordering and payment requests.
  • Completion of prior authorization requests for Medicaid and other payors. Assist patients with sliding fee scale, fee arrangements, or insurance cost sharing needs.
  • Entry of dental treatment plans in Epic/Wisdom or other data system.
  • Equipment maintenance as assigned by dentist and log in maintenance log.
  • Participate in periodic continuing education activities. Attend Vivent Health All Staff meetings, Dental Department meetings and Dental Assistant meetings.
  • Travel to another Vivent Dental Clinic may be necessary on occasion (not applicable outside of Wisconsin.)
  • Perform other duties as delegated by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Two years’ experience in dental assisting and providing excellent patient experience.
  • Certified Dental Assistant CDA or Registered Dental Assistant RDA may be required in accordance with state regulations.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Assist in training new dental champions locally or enterprise wide.
  • Valid and current state driver license and an insurable driving record. (Not applicable outside of Wisconsin.)
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the HIV/AIDS patient population, and /or eagerness to learn about this community.
  • Ability to work with a diverse patient population.
  • Working knowledge of Spanish language (bilingual) is a plus.

Starting at $22/hourly (Depending on Experience)
