Job description

Dental Associates of Northern Virginia is looking for a Dental Assistant in Falls Church, Virginia to assist our clinical team by providing a high level of patient care and satisfaction while operating in a team-based environment.

Position Overview

As a Dental Assistant you are an integral part of the care team, supporting the office and assisting professional dental staff with treatment. Candidates must have prior dental assisting experience to be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical Support: Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
  • Patient Care: Welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post‑treatment care.
  • Radiography & Diagnostics: Take and develop X‑rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake if needed.
  • Assist the dentist with dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supplies, and emergency telephone directory.
Qualifications
  • Completion of a one‑year certified dental assistant program
  • 1 year on‑the‑job experience
  • X‑ray certification – required
  • Nitrous oxide certification is highly recommended
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Dental Assistant are also expected to maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.
