Job summary

CoreCivic is seeking Dental Assistants who are committed to providing the highest quality care in an institutional setting. The role involves preparing patients, setting up instruments, sterilizing equipment, and ensuring proper sanitation between treatments.

Responsibilities include inventory control of dental supplies, preventing duplication of services, and monitoring patient treatment progress. A valid driver's license and minimum age may be required by the facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• One year of dental assisting experience is required.
• Certificate or evidence of completion of a dental assistant training program or meeting Dental Practice Act criteria in the state of practice.

• Assistant dentist with treatment of inmates/residents by setting up instruments for each patient and treatment and preparing impressions and filling materials.
• Sterilize the dental unit and instruments after each treatment and replace instruments before the next patient treatment.
• Control medication, syringes and other dental supplies; inventory as required by procedures.
• Keep equipment and work area clean; use appropriate sanitation methods.
• Review dental services to prevent inappropriate use or duplication of services.
• Review status of inmates/residents for completion of all necessary interventions and treatments and services.

The incumbent should be able to perform all of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the job performance requirements

1. Assistant dentist with the treatment of inmates/residents by setting up all instruments for each patient and treatment to be rendered and preparing impressions and filling materials.

2. After each treatment, sterilize the dental unit and instruments used and replace instruments prior to the next patient treatment.

3. Control medication, syringes and other dental supplies or equipment; inventory as required by established procedures

4. Keep equipment and work area clean; utilize appropriate sanitation methods.

5. Review dental services provided to prevent the inappropriate use or duplication of services.

6. Review status of inmates/residents for completion of all necessary intervention and treatments and services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent or greater.

• Oneyear of dental assisting experience is required.

• Certificate or evidence of completion of adental assistant training program or other requirements that meet the criteriaof the Dental Practice Act in the state of practice, in compliance with contractor applicable statutes is required.

• A valid driver's license is required.

• Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
