Job summary

CoreCivic is hiring Dental Assistants to provide quality care in an institutional setting. The role involves preparing patients, instruments, and materials for dental procedures within a secure facility.

The incumbent will sterilize equipment, manage supplies, and help ensure accurate delivery of dental services while maintaining sanitation and safety standards. A valid driver’s license and a minimum age of 21 are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent or greater.
• One-year dental assisting experience is required.
• Certificate or evidence of completion of a dental assistant training program or other requirements that meet the criteria of the Dental Practice Act in the state of practice, in compliance with contract or applicable statutes is required.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Minimum age requirement: Must be at least 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Set up instruments and prepare materials for each patient’s dental treatment.
• Sterilize the dental unit and instruments after each treatment and replace as needed.
• Manage medications, syringes and supplies; inventory per procedures.
• Keep workspace clean and sanitize equipment.
• Review dental services to prevent misuse or duplication.
• Review inmate status for completion of treatments and interventions.

The incumbent should be able to perform all of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the job performance requirements

• Assistant dentist with the treatment of inmates/residents by setting up all instruments for each patient and treatment to be rendered and preparing impressions and filling materials.
• After each treatment, sterilize the dental unit and instruments used and replace instruments prior to the next patient treatment.
• Control medication, syringes and other dental supplies or equipment; inventory as required by established procedures
• Keep equipment and work area clean; utilize appropriate sanitation methods.
• Review dental services provided to prevent the inappropriate use or duplication of services.
• Review status of inmates/residents for completion of all necessary intervention and treatments and services.
