Job summary

Pine Knoll Rehabilitation Centre in Winchester, Indiana is seeking a compassionate Special Care Unit Director to oversee the Dementia Special Care Unit and ensure high-quality care for residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

The role requires leadership, adherence to training and regulatory standards, and the ability to report findings to the Administrator. The Director will participate in admissions decisions and daily rounds to maintain nursing standards.

Qualifications

• Director must have a health care/mental health/social service degree or be a licensed facility administrator.
• Minimum 1 year work experience with dementia or Alzheimer’s residents within the past 5 years.
• Minimum 12 hours of dementia-specific training within 3 months of initial employment and 6 hours annually thereafter.
• Must possess a current health certificate/examination required by State agencies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operation of the Dementia Special Care Unit.
• Ensure care provided to Alzheimer’s/dementia residents aligns with in-service training, current practices, and regulatory standards; follow instructions and complete records under supervision.
• Make reports and recommendations to the Administrator and implement recommendations.
• Assist to admit, transfer and discharge residents as necessary due to varied needs.
• Make daily rounds and report findings to the Administrator to ensure nursing services meet acceptable standards.
