Pine Knoll Rehabilitation Centre in Winchester, Indiana is seeking a compassionate Special Care Unit Director to oversee the Dementia Special Care Unit and ensure high-quality care for residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

The role requires leadership, adherence to training and regulatory standards, and the ability to report findings to the Administrator. The Director will participate in admissions decisions and daily rounds to maintain nursing standards.

Competenze

• Director must have a health care/mental health/social service degree or be a licensed facility administrator.
• Minimum 1 year work experience with dementia or Alzheimer’s residents within the past 5 years.
• Minimum 12 hours of dementia-specific training within 3 months of initial employment and 6 hours annually thereafter.
• Must possess a current health certificate/examination required by State agencies.

Job Description: Special Care Unit Directors supervise the day-to-day activities of the special care unit of the facility to ensure that care provided to Alzheimer’s and dementia care unit residents is consistent with in-service training, current Alzheimer’s and dementia care practices, and regulatory standards.

About us: Pine Knoll Rehabilitation Centre is a skilled nursing facility located in Winchester, Indiana. Pine Knoll is seeking a compassionate Special Care Unit Director to become a part of our team where our primary goal is to provide exceptional care to our residents.

About the Role:

• To oversee the operation of the Dementia Special Care Unit.
• To ensure that care provided to the Alzheimer’s and dementia care unit resident is consistent with in-service training, current Alzheimer’s and dementia care practices, and regulatory standards. That can follow instructions and complete records under supervision
• To make reports and recommendations to the Administrator concerning operations of the unit and implement recommendations received by administration, other departments, and/or committees as directed.
• To assist to admit, transfer and discharge residents as necessary due to varied needs and/or deterioration relative to progression of the disease process.
• To make daily rounds and report findings to the Administrator, as necessary to ensure that nursing services personnel are performing duties in accordance with acceptable Nursing Standards.

About you:

The ideal candidate would have the following skills and experience.

• The Director shall have an earned degree from an educational institution in a health care, mental health, or social service profession or be a licensed facility administrator. In a State recognized and approved training program to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.
• The Director shall have a minimum of one year work experience with dementia or Alzheimer’s residents, or both, within the past five (5) years. Must have the ability to stay calm and professional in a fast-paced healthcare environment and be capable of extended periods of standing, bending and heavy lifting.
• The Director shall have a minimum of 12 hours of dementia-specific training within three (3) months of initial employment as the Director of the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Special Care Unit and six (6) hours annually thereafter to meet the needs or preferences, or both, of cognitively impaired residents and to gain understanding of the current standards of care for residents with dementia.
• Must possess a current health certificate/examination required by State agencies.
