Job summary

Williamsburg Landing in the Namaste Care Community is seeking an Activities Coordinator to plan, organize, and oversee a diversified activity program for residents with dementia. The role reports to the Resident Engagement Manager and works closely with the Cognitive Services team to ensure meaningful, multisensory engagements and person-centered activities.

You will schedule and supervise volunteers and outside contractors, document assessments and care plans, and develop monthly calendars.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of Alzheimer’s and dementia issues and the ability to work with and develop programs for residents with dementia especially the late stage.
• Experience in social/recreational programs with senior adults or in a health care setting is preferred.
• Certification as Recreational Therapist or Activity Director preferred; additional gerontology/dementia training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops, plans, and implements a diversified activity program addressing emotional, intellectual, physical, spiritual, social, and vocational needs of residents with late-stage dementia.
• Provides multisensory engagements to promote comfort, safety, and meaningful interaction.
• Collaborates with Namaste staff, Social Workers, and Culinary Services for comprehensive programming.
• Documents assessments, care plans, and attendance for residents.
• Develops monthly activity calendars and coordinates programs.
• Facilitates programs and guides staff, family, and volunteers.
