Job summary

Meta is seeking an Energy Manager to lead demand flexibility and emerging grid strategies for its global data center portfolio. The role combines commercial negotiations with utilities, regulatory engagement, and cross‑functional coordination across energy, engineering, policy, and legal teams.

The ideal candidate has deep experience in energy markets, DR, BYOC, and interconnection tariffs, with a track record of shaping energy service agreements and scalable programs for large data center

Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in commercial energy, utility negotiations, or grid operations.
• Experience with demand response, BYOC capacity arrangements, or flexible load tariffs in major U.S. RTO/ISO markets.
• Experience representing business interests to utilities, grid operators, regulatory agencies, and industry working groups.
• Able to communicate complex regulatory, commercial, and technical details clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
• Proficiency in standard document and analytics platforms (Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs).
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 25%).

Responsibilities

• Serve as Meta's subject matter expert on demand flexibility and flexible interconnection across all markets where Meta operates or evaluates new capacity.
• Partner with Policy team to engage in regulatory processes and monitor changing regulations related to demand flexibility.
• Manage commercial relationships for data centers across energy markets with utilities, market participants, regulators, and stakeholders.
• Negotiate deal terms for demand flexibility and present scenario analyses to balance capacity options for the business.
• Negotiate and deliver new commercial agreements enabling capacity and flexible options for data centers.
• Collaborate with legal to develop commercial arrangements and ensure reliable, cost-effective energy.
• Support Site Selection in identifying US locations meeting energy requirements for new data centers.
• Interface with on-site staff, sustainability, policy, design, construction, legal, and finance.
• Support the energy supply strategy and keep management informed of market trends and risks.
• Lead and support various energy projects as needed.
• Ability to travel domestically (25%)
