SUMMARY:
The Delivery Specialist I is responsible for engaging in all aspects of mail receipt and distribution for the University.
Handles all incoming and outgoing mail.
Completes the pick-up and delivery of mail between departments/buildings on campus and the U.S. Post Office in Commerce, Texas.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Completes pickup and delivery of mail between departments on campus and the US Post Office.
- Examines, sorts, and bundles all mail/packages for distribution.
- Processes outgoing mail with accurate postage, labeling and packaging for delivery to local USPS.
- Processes incoming mail for accurate and timely distribution to university departments.
- Ensures proper signature receipts for tracked postage items and maintains logs for tracking information and proof of delivery.
- Loads mail in the most efficient manner for timely delivery.
- Maintains efficient routes for delivery and pick-up scheduling.
- Maintains list of departmental accounts, and ensures all charges are correctly allocated.
- Provides regular report to Financial Services for final account transfers.
- Maintains balance of postage funds with USPS via equipment meter.
- Assists with and special mailing projects or mass mailings, including list maintenance, folding, inserting, labeling, and sealing of large first-class projects.
- Operates and maintains university vehicles, carts, mail machinery, equipment and software to ensure accurate postage charges.
- Reports issues with equipment and vehicles to appropriate supervisor.
- Maintains mileage and fuel documentation for reconciliation and tracking.
- Serves as main point of contact for Campus Mail Room and supervises student workers in the absence of the Logistics Manager.
- Advises departments on proper use of campus mail facilities and provides technical advice on proper methods of handling all types of mail.
- Maintains excellent working relationship with United States Postal Service and University department/building contacts.
- Stays abreast of new regulations, attends training sessions and gathers information to ensure proper discounts are given and to maintain efficient and effective use of University resources.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience / Knowledge / Skills: No related experience.
- Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Licensing/Professional Certifications: Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License within 15 days of employment and a satisfactory driving record.
- Inability to obtain a valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License will result in termination.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift/carry over 10 lbs. with occasional lifting/carrying over 60 lbs. Position requires extended periods of standing/walking.
- Other Requirements: None.
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
May supervise student workers and graduate students.
