Job summary

Builders FirstSource in Newark, DE is seeking a Transportation Dispatcher to assign motor vehicles and drivers for the conveyance of building materials. You will compile vehicle availability, assign trips, and coordinate with drivers to ensure timely delivery while keeping accurate records of departures, cargo, and returns.

The role emphasizes attention to safety, communication with customers, and problem-solving to locate missing or delayed merchandise.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required and six months to one year of related experience and/or training.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret procedures and regulations; good business writing and communication skills.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic and handle data related to vehicles, routes, and fuel use.

Responsibilities

Compile a list of available vehicles.
Assign vehicles and trips based on trip length, freight or passenger requirements, and user preference.
Assign orders to lift operators from inventory.
Issue keys, records, and credentials to drivers.
Record departure times, destinations, cargo, and return times.
Investigate overdue vehicles and coordinate with drivers.
