Job summary

Local Government Federal Credit Union in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Collections Specialist II to proactively manage delinquent accounts, contact members, and develop repayment solutions to protect the credit union's assets.

Daily duties include reaching out by phone, email, or text to discuss accounts, establishing repayment plans, and collaborating with the Default Management team to support loss mitigation goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-3 years experience in consumer loan product collections.
• Understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
• Knowledge of analyzing tax returns, financial statements, and credit reports.
• Experience with credit procedures, regulations and laws; knowledge of bankruptcy and consumer law.
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team.
• Able to lift 25 lbs and use standard office equipment.
• Occasional travel required.
• Preferred: 1-3 years credit union consumer credit experience.
• Knowledge of loan structuring and workout solutions desirable.

Responsibilities

• Contact Credit Union Members regarding loans in default via phone, email, and text message.
• Support delinquency and loss management goals, including repossessions and escalated matters.
• Proactively contact members to discuss accounts and delinquency reasons.
• Develop repayment plans, loan modifications, or other solutions to bring accounts current.
• Provide guidance on financial education resources to improve future outlook.
• Document all interactions and actions in the core collection system.
• Maintain call volume and quality aligned with KPI goals.
• Collaborate with other internal units for loss prevention.
• Assist with reviewing delinquency trend reports and recovery efforts.
• Keep up-to-date with Default Management practices and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations and CU policies.
