Job summary

PCC Community Markets is seeking a Back of House Deli Steward to support deli kitchen operations, including cooking, production planning, ordering, and staff development. The role emphasizes mentorship of cooks and deli helpers and a commitment to excellent customer service.

Based in West Seattle, the position requires flexibility for shifts including evenings and weekends, ability to transfer between PCC locations, and compliance with health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to provide excellent professional customer service.
• Knowledge of cooking techniques and production cooking in a high-volume kitchen.
• General understanding of cooking methods, natural ingredients, and alternative foods.
• Able to work evenings and weekends.
• Willing to transfer between PCC locations as needed.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Proficient with computers; MS Office familiarity.
• Physical ability to stand, lift 10–50 lbs.
• WA State Food Worker Card required.

Responsibilities

• Provides and models excellent, professional customer service
• Participates in the preparation, ordering, stocking, retail merchandising and inventory of deli products and supplies
• Develops skills to oversee kitchen operations including food cost analysis and staffing
• Develops skills to train, mentor, and develop Cooks and Deli Helper Clerks
• Participates in department planning with the deli management team
• Ensures department sanitation, cleanliness and safety standards are met
• Produces prepared foods in accordance with PCC recipes
