Job summary

PJP Marketplace is seeking a skilled deli/kitchen associate to prepare, cook, and present hot and cold items in a fast-paced retail environment. You will ensure food safety, accurate labeling, and adherence to FIFO while maintaining clean, inviting display cases.

The role involves customer service at the counter, suggesting specials, and supporting inventory needs as needed. Shifts are part-time or full-time, with varying days and hours.

Qualifications

• Prior food preparation or deli experience required.
• Food safety certification preferred; PJP Marketplace will support certification for candidates who do not hold one at the time of hire.
• Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment, including slicers, fryers, and ovens, safely and effectively.
• Strong attention to detail for food quality, portioning, labeling, and code date compliance.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, slice, and package hot and cold food items according to established recipes and portion standards.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly; follow all equipment operating procedures.
• Monitor food temperatures to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Label and date all prepared items; rotate product using FIFO and remove items past code dates.
• Communicate inventory needs to the Store Manager promptly.
• Greet customers, assist with product questions, and use suggestive selling for daily specials.
• Maintain display cases to be clean, labeled, and accurately priced.
