Job summary

Qualifications

• Excellent oral/written communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Current food handlers permit once employed.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Any deli/retail experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates, with a positive attitude.
• Communicate department and job information to associates.
• Establish department performance goals and empower associates to meet targets.
• Develop scheduling to manage customer volume.
• Train associates on performance and participate in evaluations.
• Create a welcoming environment and answer customer questions about products.
• Inform customers of produce specials and offer samples to drive discovery.
• Review products for quality and freshness and take action as needed.
• Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve results.
• Create and execute promotions in partnership with store management.
• Educate associates about promotions and store-wide deals.
• Prepare seasonal critiques for the sales/merchandising supervisor.
• Assist in budgeting, expense control, and P&L reviews.
