Job summary

Adams Hometown Markets is seeking a Deli Clerk to prepare and serve deli products, assist customers, and keep the deli area clean and organized. The role involves taking orders for sliced meats and cheeses, weighing and packaging items, and following health and safety standards.

You will rotate stock, answer customer questions, and provide recommendations to meet customer preferences. A flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail or grocer environment preferred, with ability to assist customers at deli counter.
• Must be 18 years of age due to work requirements.
• Ability to lift up to 80-85 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Able to follow health and safety guidelines and store policies.
• Flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers at the deli counter with information on products, sales and promotions.
• Rotate products to sell older items first (FIFO).
• Take orders for sliced meats, cheeses and deli items with accuracy.
• Slice, weigh and package deli products to customer specs and store policies.
• Communicate product ingredients, preparation methods and storage details to customers.
• Make recommendations based on customer preferences.
• Maintain clean deli prep and service areas per health regulations.
