Job summary

Kennie’s Market Inc. in Gettysburg is seeking a Deli Service Clerk to support daily deli operations. You will set up hot foods, slice deli meats and cheeses, weigh salads, and assist with pizzas, subs, and salads.

No experience is required; on-the-job training is provided. You will maintain cleanliness, stock products, and uphold safety standards while delivering friendly customer service.

Responsibilities

• Set up hot foods case for the day.
• Slice deli meats and cheeses to customers' satisfaction; weigh salads from the cold deli case.
• Keep the food service area well stocked and clean.
• Assist in making, wrapping, and pricing pizzas, strombolis, sandwiches, subs, and salads.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness in the sales area; wrap lunch meats and cheeses at closing.
• Tear down chip section at closing; cooperate with other departments during promotions.
• Uphold safety standards and perform duties as directed by deli management.

Job description

The Deli Service Clerk is responsible for performing duties as directed by the Deli Manager and/or Asst. Deli Manager for the efficient operation of the Deli Department. The Deli Clerk is responsible for ensuring all Kennie’s customers are provided with the highest quality products and excellent customer service.

Requirements:

• EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: No prior experience required. Training will be provided.
• LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of this organization.
• MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: None.
• REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Set up hot foods case for the day.
• Wait on customers by slicing deli meats and cheeses to their satisfaction, and also by dishing up and weighing salads from the cold deli case.
• Consistently keeps the food service section well stocked with product.
• Assists in making, wrapping and pricing pizzas and strombolis
• Assists in making, packaging and pricing sandwiches, subs, etc.
• Assists with making store made salads.
• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation in the sales area.
• Wraps lunch meats and cheeses at closing and put them in cooler.
• Tears down chip section at closing.
• Cooperates with fellow department employees and other departments during inter-departmental or store wide promotions.
• Responsible for obeying all safety standards.
• Performs other appropriate duties as directed by the Deli Manager, Assistant Deli Manager, Assistant Store Manager or Store Manager.
• Responsible for upholding department quality and safety standards in the absence of the department manager or assistant manager.
