Overview

Responsibilities

As a Deli Clerk, you will help customers make healthy food choices by preparing "fresh and easy meals" and providing excellent customer service. Your duties include arranging vegetables and sliced meats for made-to-order sandwiches, assisting with catering orders, and sharing your knowledge of meats, cheeses, and deli items. Food safety knowledge is essential to maintain our high standards. There are ample opportunities for growth, learning about products and equipment, and becoming a customer service expert. Qualifications

To qualify as a Deli Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent, and have experience in grocery, restaurant, or related fields, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Be dependable and reliable.
• Show an outgoing, friendly attitude and positive behavior, with the ability to interact well with customers.
• Be flexible to work varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Possess good communication skills, follow directions, and work well in a team.
• Answer phones and handle special orders.
• Lift/carry products weighing up to 70 lbs. over distances up to 20 feet, for up to 4 hours.
• Stand for up to 4 hours continuously, totaling 8 hours per shift.
• Perform general housekeeping, including cleaning and sanitizing work areas.
• Operate slicers, wrapping, and cooking equipment, maintaining all in safe working condition.
• Follow safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations; obtain and maintain a Food Handlers permit.
• Work in temperature-controlled environments such as coolers and freezers.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
