Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a Store Leader to plan, direct, and supervise day-to-day store operations across departments. You will mentor staff, implement customer service strategies, and drive sales while maintaining store standards.

The role emphasizes staffing, development, and accountability for performance, with a focus on safety and exceptional customer service. The candidate should have 2–3 years of retail experience and at least 1 year in a supervisory role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience; 1 year of management experience.
• Proven ability to communicate clearly with team members and leadership.
• Proven ability to resolve conflicts and address root causes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use it to inform decisions.
• Ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a safety-conscious organization.
• Mentor team members across all levels including hourly staff and leaders.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet needs.
• Mentor and coach team members; drive development and promotions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink within the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service and uphold Meijer standards.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations.
• Promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
• Ensure thorough training of team members across all job duties.
• Spend substantial time in-store engaging with customers and colleagues to deliver exceptional service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
