Job summary

Fresh Thyme Farmers Market seeks a Deli/Bakery Manager to lead the Deli/Bakery Department, manage staff, and drive sales and margins while maintaining high product quality and customer service.

Responsibilities include scheduling, inventory control, pricing accuracy, and ensuring safety and cleanliness across the department. A minimum 4 years in grocery retail and a high school diploma are required, with natural foods experience a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years professional experience.
• 3–5 years grocery retail experience in deli/bakery preferred.
• Natural foods industry experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare weekly sales and labor projections for the Deli/Bakery Department.
• Monitor costs, ordering, inventory, pricing, and shrink.
• Manage staff: hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, performance reviews.
• Oversee shift operations and department schedules.
• Ensure flyers and ads are stocked and products available for sale.
• Stock and present deli/bakery items with proper dating and pricing.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in deli/bakery areas.
• Assist customers and promote cross-selling at the counter.
• Receive and inspect shipments for accuracy and quality.
• Rotate products and discard spoiled items as needed.
• Balance department margins and prepare pre-inventory.
