Job summary

Military Deli & Bakery Services is hiring a part-time Deli Bakery Associate in Portsmouth, VA to serve military personnel and their families at a commissary location.

You will slice meats and cheeses, prepare trays, stock displays, maintain sanitation, and assist with bakery tasks as needed; strong teamwork and customer service are key.

The role offers 20 hours weekly with weekend availability, paid time off after a year, holiday pay, a 401(k) plan, and opportunities for growth within the company.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Willing to cross-train in deli and bakery tasks.
• Effective and friendly communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk during an entire shift.
• Grocery, food service or retail experience a plus.
• Weekend availability may be required.

Responsibilities

• Slices deli meats and cheeses to customer requests.
• Prepares custom party trays and makes sandwiches accordingly.
• Stock and organize displays and assist with shipments.
• Ensure proper sanitation of the department and food handling.
• Demonstrates ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Other duties may include cake decorating, baking or other deli/bakery tasks.
