Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Buyer for its Germantown, MD site to support a growth-oriented supply chain in a technical manufacturing environment. The role emphasizes executing CPSR-compliant purchase orders, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings in defense technology programs.

Responsibilities include working with approved requisitions, negotiating terms, and ensuring accurate procurement documentation while supporting cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, 9/80 environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience with 2+ years in Purchasing.
• Experience in aerospace and defense manufacturing or other technical environments.
• Ability to understand military specifications and read blueprints.
• Knowledge of procurement laws and breach of contract implications.
• Strong negotiation and supplier relationship skills.
• Familiarity with SAP and ERP-based purchasing workflows.

Responsibilities

• Execute CPSR-compliant purchase orders based on approved requisitions and related procurement documents.
• Perform general tactical purchasing duties to support ongoing supply chain activities.
• Track supplier changes and ensure accurate implementation in purchasing documentation.
• Communicate supplier performance to internal stakeholders and manage issues in cost, quality, delivery, and service.
• Assist in supplier negotiations and assess terms to minimize risk while maintaining compliance.
• Maintain relationships with suppliers and resolve pricing, quality, and delivery disputes.
