Job summary

GM Defense is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to bridge product engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing with our supplier base. You’ll drive APQP/PPAP, review control plans, and lead corrective actions across the supplier quality lifecycle.

You will travel up to 50% (domestic and international) and must be a U.S. Person. This hybrid role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure robust quality systems and on-time program execution.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in quality, engineering and/or manufacturing.
• Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes, procedures, tooling, equipment, and facilities.
• Ability to investigate quality problems and to apply sound technical judgment to develop solutions.
• Proficient in print reading and interpretation, part measurement, gage design and function.
• Knowledge of geometric design and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Knowledge of statistical quality control and design of experiments.
• Ability to travel up to 50% (domestic and international).
• Candidate must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee)

Responsibilities

• Supplier compliance with APQP and PPAP approval requirements.
• Reviewing and approving quality plans (Control Plans, PFMEA) for new components and assemblies.
• Reviewing and auditing supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems.
• Facilitating root cause analysis and corrective actions of supplier quality issues.
• Performing on-site supplier visits to root cause and verify correction actions of supplier quality issues.
• Performing PPAP and Run-at-rate verifications, audits, and periodic compliance monitoring.
• Improving quality performance of suppliers by conducting onsite workshops at supplier locations, providing technical assistance in developing a robust quality system, or other technical support as required.
• Providing technical assistance during supplier launch, change-over and ongoing production activities.
