GM Defense is seeking a Program Manager to lead defense manufacturing programs from pre‑award capture through contract execution. The hybrid role is based in Warren, MI, with ongoing collaboration across government customers, primes, suppliers, and internal teams.

You will drive resource planning, risk assessment, and work breakdown structures while coordinating with GM’s manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering functions. Expect regular travel and executive‑level communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
• 8+ years in program management or equivalent.
• 10+ years in the defense industry or government contracting.
• U.S. Person and citizenship requirements for federal contracts.
• Eligible to obtain Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and communicate at executive levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross‑functional teams through full program lifecycle and align stakeholders to objectives.
• Support capture, pre‑contract activities, and start‑of‑work planning.
• Direct contract execution to meet cost, schedule, and performance commitments.
• Translate customer requirements into executable work breakdown structures and schedules.
• Develop and manage program budgets, monitor performance, and implement corrective actions.
• Define performance measures and provide timely reporting to leadership.
• Identify and mitigate risks and opportunities with proactive plans.
• Engage government customers, primes, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Prepare materials for reviews and communications with executive leadership.
• Ensure compliance with quality and contractual obligations.
• Develop and mentor team members and foster a high‑performing environment.
• Represent GM Defense in customer meetings and industry engagements.
