Job summary

SURVICE Engineering is seeking a Laboratory Scientist (Chemist, Physicist, Materials Scientist) to support our Aberdeen Research Operation in Ashburn, VA. You will help accelerate defense-related science by conducting tests, preparing samples, collecting data, and maintaining meticulous records.

The role involves planning and executing laboratory, pilot, and field tests, reviewing reports, assisting with test plans and procedures, and collaborating with chemists, physicists, engineers, and data

Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to assist with laboratory and field test planning, execution, observation, and reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to analyze and summarize scientific data for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams of chemists, physicists, and engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Support laboratory operations, including preparation for testing, sample handling, equipment setup, data collection, and record maintenance.
  • Assist in planning, execution, and documentation of laboratory, pilot, and field tests for interdiction technologies.
  • Develop and review test plans, reports, SOPs, concepts of operations, and technical procedures.
  • Analyze laboratory and field test data, summarize findings, identify trends, and prepare recommendations for government review.
  • Assist with inventory and asset management for laboratory equipment, consumables, prototypes, and fielded systems.
  • Maintain calibration schedules, maintenance logs, and lifecycle documentation.
  • Coordinate logistics for receipt, storage, issuance, shipment, repair, and retirement of equipment.
  • Contribute to program management products such as schedules, status reports, spend plans, and briefings.
  • Support systems engineering and technology transition activities by documenting requirements and risks.
  • Assist with data scientists and analysts by reviewing data and contributing to reports and dashboards.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related physical sciences
