Job summary

SURVICE Engineering seeks a Composites Expert to support its Aberdeen Research Operation. You will accelerate your career as part of a defense-focused team, fabricating laminates, preparing test samples, and performing advanced analysis to drive performance-based results.

The role requires hands-on composite manufacturing, ASTM testing experience, and proficiency with SolidWorks and analytical tools. This is a demanding, rewarding position located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD with travel

Qualifications

Hands-on experience with composite manufacturing/processing methods.
Experience with ASTM and non-standard experimental testing of composites and polymers.
Experience with microscopy/failure analysis methods for composites and polymers.
Experience/familiarity with modeling methods for advanced composite materials.

Responsibilities

Fabricate flat panel fiber reinforced laminates for material characterization.
Prepare test coupons meeting ASTM geometries and tabbing guidelines.
Instrument samples with strain measuring approaches including DIC.
Operate data acquisition equipment to capture in-situ material data.
Design non-standard experiments for performance evaluations and model development.
Design prototype concepts for testing material properties.
Measure material response using standard test protocols.
Analyze data to report mechanical properties and rankings.
Create digital laminates and assess properties with computational methods.
Design laminate structures in SolidWorks and translate for analysis.
Formulate new chemistries for resins and polymers.
Run predictive design of experiments for property response.
Prepare Government-format presentations and documents.
