Job summary

The Fountain Group is seeking a Java Software Engineer for a prominent client. This on-site role is based in Huntsville, AL or Colorado Springs, CO, with a 12-month assignment and pay of $73.35/hr to start.

The position covers full life-cycle development of complex Java-based military applications, including MATLAB integration, agile practices, and working with tools like Git, JIRA, Maven, and Eclipse. A U.S. security clearance and STEM degree are required.

Qualifications

• This position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
• Bachelor’s degree required (STEM field).
• Experienced in the full life-cycle development of complex mathematical algorithms (such as tracking, correlation, guidance, battle management, and radar management) for Java-based military applications.
• Ability to implement MATLAB based algorithms into Java-based software.
• Understanding of software development principles including OOP, design patterns, and testing/debugging techniques,
• Experience using analytical, collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
• Experience working as part of an Agile team.
• Familiarity with Java J2EE or Java Spring.
• Knowledge of server-side development and message passing.
• Experience developing enterprise applications.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office products.
• Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasking.
• Use of common software development and management tools such as git, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, Maven, and Eclipse.
• Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and UML diagrams.
• Security+ or equivalent highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Full life-cycle development of complex mathematical algorithms for Java-based military applications.
• Support full software development lifecycle including design artifacts, implementing changes, testing, and issue resolution.
• Participate in agile planning and execution using established processes.
• Software requirements and architecture development in support of MDS systems.
• Develop, select, tailor and deploy integration and test processes, tools and metrics.
• Execute and document integration and test activities and events.
• Travel up to 10% domestically or internationally as needed.
• Access to MDA facility may require a background investigation by U.S. government authorities.
