Fairfield County Clerk of Court seeks an organized records professional to record, index, and archive legal documents such as deeds, mortgages, and powers of attorney. You will provide certified copies to the public and attorneys on request and collect related fees.

The role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining compliance with state laws and court procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and three to five years of general office experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
  • Knowledge of the legal system is beneficial.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from various backgrounds and education levels regarding policies, practices, and procedures of the Clerk of Court.

Responsibilities

  • Record, index, and archive legal documents such as deeds, mortgages, liens, plats, and powers of attorney.
  • Provide certified copies of property records to the public and legal professionals upon request.
  • Collect and account for fees associated with document recording and certifications.
  • Assist title searchers and attorneys with accessing public property records.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy of recorded data.
  • Maintain compliance with SC statutory requirements for the Clerk of Court.
