Job summary

Onslow County Public Schools is seeking an Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year at Woodland Elementary in Maysville, North Carolina. You will support teachers and therapists in daily activities for students with disabilities, under general supervision, and contribute to an engaging learning environment.

The role requires a two-year associate degree preferred, or an associate degree with emphasis in math, reading, writing and content knowledge, plus a minimum 2.5

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree is preferred for consideration.
• Associate's Degree with emphasis in math/reading/writing is required or preferred.
• Minimum 2.5 GPA is expected.
• ETTP training must be completed within the first school year.

Responsibilities

• Follows rules, policies, and procedures of OCSD and regulations.
• Assists in classroom management and maintaining discipline.
• Supports students on individual academic assignments.
• Assists with gross motor activities and fine motor activities.
• Assists with dressing, eating, grooming, toileting, and hygiene needs.
• Maintains equipment and materials used in instruction.
• Supports therapists and other specialists.
• Records student progress and related data.
• Performs clerical tasks: attendance, incident reports, grading, and creating instructional materials.
• Implements educational programs and administers/scores tests.
• Monitors safety and well-being of students in all settings.
• Supports digital age learning and academic growth.
• Models ethical behavior and participates in drills/field trips.
