Job summary

West Burlington Independent School District is seeking Substitute Associates to support certified staff and help meet instructional goals. The role involves assisting students in the classroom, supervising non-instructional areas, and supporting preparation and assessment activities.

You will work under building principals and participate in field trips and various school duties to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist certified staff in the classroom to meet instructional goals and free teachers from non-professional duties, such as proctoring study halls.
• Reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills with students individually or in small groups.
• Assist in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Support classroom preparations and strategies to reinforce instructional materials per student needs.
• Maintain records of student learning and performance.
• Assist with behavior management to maintain a safe, orderly classroom and keep students on task.
• Supervise non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground, study halls, etc.).
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Assist with parent contact to foster involvement.
• Follow safety rules and procedures for students, including those with disabilities.
